Head of delegates from Saint Paul Institute(SPI) attended the meeting and 26th Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities(ASEACCU) conference at Elizabeth University of Music in Hiroshima, Japan from 22nd to 26th August, 2018.
All the meaningful and memorable past days have included lectures from notable academics on the theme of Catholic Education and Peace Initiatives. Also, including Kazumi Matsui, Mayor of Hiroshima. Furthermore, we have also experienced tours of key places, business meeting, signature of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with partner universities from Australia, Philippine, and Indonesia.
With well prepare and professional organizing, we were able to understand the most impactful of these being the Hypocentre, including the Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. This included hearing from Keiko Ogura, an atomic bomb survivor during the bombing on 6th August, 1945 who was only 8 years old when the bomb was dropped.
On the other hands, this conference granted more than 200 Faculty members and students of 49 universities from 8 countries able to meet each other for networking, sharing information, friendship in order to find the possibilities for cooperation in future. Thanks to Elizabeth University of Music to hosted this 26th ASEACCU conference.
